Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Tanzania
WildReality Safari welcomes you at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transfers you to your lodge in Arusha. Relax, meet your guide, and go through a full climb briefing.
Day 2: Machame Gate (1,800m) to Machame Camp (3,020m)
Trek Time: 5–6 hours | Distance: 11 km | Habitat: Rainforest After breakfast, drive to Machame Gate. Register with the park, meet your crew, and begin your adventure! Walk through lush rainforest teeming with birdlife, monkeys, and towering trees, ascending steadily to reach Machame Camp by late afternoon.
Day 3: Machame Camp to Shira Camp (3,840m)
Trek Time: 5–6 hours | Distance: 5 km | Habitat: Moorland Today the forest gives way to open moorland. Hike past giant heathers, volcanic rocks, and distant views of the Shira Plateau. Reach Shira Camp early enough to relax and acclimatize.
Day 4: Shira Camp to Lava Tower (4,630m) to Barranco Camp (3,950m)
Trek Time: 6–7 hours | Distance: 10 km | Habitat: Semi-desert Ascend steadily to Lava Tower ("Shark's Tooth") for acclimatization before a steep descent into the sheltered Barranco Valley. Today’s "climb high, sleep low" technique greatly boosts acclimatization!
Day 5: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp (4,050m)
Trek Time: 4–5 hours | Distance: 5 km | Habitat: Alpine Desert Start with the exhilarating scramble up the Great Barranco Wall \u2014 a thrilling challenge rewarded with breathtaking views. Then trek over rolling ridges to Karanga Camp.
Day 6: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp (4,680m)
Trek Time: 4 hours | Distance: 4 km | Habitat: Alpine Desert A short but important hike today. Reach Barafu ("Ice" camp), where you rest early to prepare for the midnight summit push. Early dinner and briefing under a starry sky.
Day 7: Summit Day! Barafu to Uhuru Peak (5,895m) to Mweka Camp (3,100m)
Trek Time: 12–15 hours | Distance: 17 km | Habitat: Arctic → Rainforest Start at midnight. Under starlight, ascend steep slopes to Stella Point, then continue to the roof of Africa \u2014 Uhuru Peak! Celebrate, take photos, then descend carefully to Mweka Camp for your last night on the mountain.
Day 8: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate → Transfer to Lodge
Trek Time: 3–4 hours | Distance: 10 km | Habitat: Rainforest An easy descent through lush rainforest. Meet your team at the gate, receive your summit certificate, and transfer back to the lodge for a well- deserved shower and celebration!
