The Story Behind WildReality Safari

WildReality Safari is, at its heart, a small, family-owned company built on a lifetime of love for Tanzania’s wild places. We are 100% locally owned and operated, led by people who were born here, raised here, and shaped by the landscapes we now share with the world. Our story doesn’t begin in an office;  it begins with childhood wonder, dusty roads, and a young boy who felt most alive under open skies.

My name is Allen, and my journey into the world of safaris began long before I knew what a “tour operator” even was. I still remember my first school trip to the Selous Game Reserve, now Nyerere National Park. I was just a boy, but the moment I saw elephants moving quietly through the floodplains, something inside me changed. That feeling of awe has never left me.

At home, our evenings were filled with National Geographic Wild and the unforgettable voice of Sir David Attenborough. Those documentaries weren’t just background noise; they shaped my imagination, taught me to pay attention to nature, and made me dream of exploring Tanzania from end to end.

During school and university breaks, I traveled to Zanzibar to help my uncle at his boutique hotel, Shooting Star Lodge. That experience opened my world. I met travelers from all walks of life and learned the importance of warmth, storytelling, and genuine hospitality. Those early days taught me how powerful it is when people feel welcomed not just as guests, but as friends.

When I wasn’t at the coast, I was in the mountains. I camped alone in the Usambara and Lushoto ranges, sleeping under the stars, making fires, hiking trails that few people knew. I climbed to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. I explored nearly every corner of this country, and with each journey, my love for Tanzania grew deeper.
There is nowhere else like it. Visiting Tanzania feels like experiencing five African countries in one.

Years later, when we founded WildReality Safari, we knew exactly what we wanted: A safari company that does things differently, professionally, personally, authentically, and truly local.

We never wanted to become a big, factory-style operator. Staying small and family-run allows us to remain connected to every guest, every itinerary, and every experience. Our team is 100% Tanzanian guides, planners, and community hosts who live the stories we share and know this land the way only locals can.

For us, a safari isn’t about ticking boxes. It’s about connection to nature, to culture, to the quiet moments that stay with you long after you return home. It’s watching a lion at sunrise, listening to stories around a fire, sharing chai in a small village, or feeling the silence of the Serengeti stretch out before you.

With years of exploration, guiding, and caring for guests, we craft journeys the way we would for our own family — with intention, honesty, and the love we have for the land that raised us.

So whether you’re dreaming of the Serengeti, preparing to climb Kilimanjaro, or craving moments of stillness and discovery, we’re here to create something unforgettable — something real, something personal, something uniquely Tanzanian.
